Group CBS continues to find value and add to our portfolio of outstanding companies delivering the quality products and services the industry has come to expect. Welcome to Carolina Precision Switchgear (CPS), our newest member company. CPS has been a trusted contributor in the greater Charlotte market since 2006.
Founder Doug Weaver served four years in the US Navy as Interior Communications Specialist. His electrical career includes 24 years at Duke as a Nuclear Supervisor, which included performing Power Factor Testing, as well as low and medium voltage circuit breaker testing, repair and reconditioning. Doug also attended CPCC for Business Administration.
Doug’s son Brad was accepted into the electrical apprenticeship program in 1999 and obtained his Commercial/Industrial Journeyman license in 2004. He worked as an electrician in several manufacturing and power generation plants. In 2010, Brad obtained his Unlimited Electrical Contracting License, which is still current. Brad is a Certified PEARL Level II Technician, as well as a Level II Certified Infrared Thermographer. In 2009, Brad joined Carolina Precision Switchgear as a Breaker Technician, working his way up to Operations Manager/Owner.
Paul Beldin supports Doug & Brad in technical sales and support. Paul began his career as a Navy Electrician’s Mate in 1988. Since then, he has served as a Field Service Technician, Field Service Engineer, Sales Engineer, Business Development Manager and Sale/Operations Manager. His extensive technical and sales knowledge includes Engineering Resource, Protective Relay Testing, Power Quality Testing, Training, Project Management and Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E Compliance.
CPS’ proven foundation is a welcome addition that will help Group CBS companies and their customers grow and prosper in the Carolinas. The crew at CPS is 10 strong. Together they perform all types of electrical power switchgear services, testing, maintenance, shop repair and remanufacturing.
With this new resource for our commercial customers, CBS Nuclear – the other Charlotte-area GCBS Company – will be able to refocus on its original goal of bringing Safety and Non-Safety related equipment & services to the Nuclear Power Industry. This re-focus by CBS Nuclear Leader Scott Peterson and his team will include additional sales people, staff reallocation and improved facilities for these dedicated products and services.
With these new resources and renewed focus, it will be hard to miss the Group CBS Brand and Quality in the Nuclear Industry, the Carolinas and surrounding power markets.
